Lifestyle Review: LaserOPS

Lifestyle Review: LaserOPS

Have you ever wonder how is it like to hold a real gun? Sadly, we can’t get to try it in Singapore (unless you’re in army) but it’s okay! We’ll be introducing you to Laser guns instead!membership+rewards Team TBM were all very excited to experience an action-packed Laser tag game at LaserOPS. Read on to know more about our experience at the games!

LaserOPS, the indoor Laser Tag is an interactive game where players attempt to score points by tagging targets and opponents with a Phaser gun. LaserOPS promises an exciting session at Singapore’s largest indoor laser tag arena. Players can navigate through a maze, shoot down the opponents and score points!!!

LaserOPS is founded by a group of laser tag enthusiasts who dreamed of developing an unparalleled interactive indoor laser tag experience in Singapore. The area is located at Dhobby Ghaut MRT, very convenient for the masses and located directly below GAP Fashion store.

Upon arriving, we changed into our gear and left our belongings in the lockers for safe-keeping. Try not to keep your phones with you as it will involve some running and action in the area, you won’t want to drop your phones!

 haha
Team TBM all ready and suited up for the games! We are all geared up! – the Vest and Phaser are equipped with built-in sensors on the front, shoulders, and back, complete with speakers. Each time a sensor is hit, it vibrates and is recorded and transmitted real time to the score screen. That is how we can find out how many points we scored after the game! Each gun has a special code name, so you can check your score based on that name.
Before each laser tag mission, the LaserOPS marshal briefed us on the mission objective, game rules and safety procedures, equipment usage and most importantly… how to fire a Phaser! We played a total of three high intensity missions, lasting 10 minutes each.
MISSION ONE:  Gain as many points as possible for your team by shooting your opponents and any moving targets!
Once you are shot by your opponent, you are automatically disarmed for 4 seconds before you can shoot again. You have to run back to your base to deposit the points once its more than 500.

There we go, all ready to enter the arena! The maze arena is specially designed with lighting, black light and smoke effects; complimented with up tempo game sounds, creating a thrilling atmosphere. 10 minutes passed by with just a blink of the eye! At the end of the game, everyone will be gathered outside for  short break as well as to review our scores on the screen.

MISSION TWO: Protect your base and attack opponent base!

Mission 2 is another team game as we have to protect our base and still shoot the opponent base for 3 consecutive times so that we gain points by destroying their base. It takes some tactical skills to plan our team strategy, be calm once you are in the arena!

MISSION THREE: Survival game, Be the last one standing!

For the last round, it’s every man for himself! Shoot anyone and everyone else to gain points, and every 2 minutes the person with the lowest score will be eliminated. It will be the final showdown when its down to the last few players!

THOUGHTS:

Overall its an adrenaline pumping fun and challenging game, there’s up to 35 thrilling game formats to cater to different ages, gender & fitness level! The entire experience was full of excitement and fun, and provides an excellent bonding experience between families, friends or colleagues. The venue is 5,500 sf, and it has recently been revamped! Excited about the new challenges and surprises it will offer?

Cafe-hopping @ SYNC Korean Tapas Bar

Cafe-hopping @ SYNC Korean Tapas Bar

Hi guys! I am back with more kick ass food for all of you! So get your stomach ready! First, let me ask you guys a question. Are you a fan of Hallyu? Recently, there has been a strong Korean influence on our sunny island, from the snaking queues of soft serve to our ever dying love for bibimbap, who doesn’t love Korean cuisine? Did someone said Kimchi?!!

So here I am today, to introduce you to a very unique cafe or rather, tapas bar, SYNC™.

Sync Korean Tapas Bar_Serangoon Garden Estate_interior 8

SYNC™ is the first ever Korean tapas Bar in Singapore. The first outlet is SYNC Korean Bistro at Westgate which has already gathered tons of good reviews. Following the success of the first outlet, SYNC Korean Tapas Bar has recently opened its doors in Serangoon Gardens. Serving Korean themed dishes with a refreshing, all-new tapas bar concept. Prices start from just $9.90!

Sync Korean Tapas Bar_Serangoon Garden Estate_interior 10Sync Korean Tapas Bar_Serangoon Garden Estate_interior 1

The Korean style Tapas bar is well decorated with adorable looking post boxes on the right which gives it a really Korean homely feel. A good place to chill out with friends over drinks and food.

We started the night with Soju Mojito ($9.90), which is soju with an added minty twist. It is served with a mint leaf for decoration and has a refreshing mint taste. It tastes like melted peppermint ice-cream and it smoothly glides down the throat.

TAPAS

5Crackling ($9.90) made of Umani cod with seaweed sprinkles, making it the best snack to go with beers and drinks. The chips are crispy and addictive, you can never stop at one!

3 Sogogi Jowl ($10.90) char-grilled beef jowl in hoba and garlic confit is presented beautifully on a wooden board. It can be eaten in a single bite and the meat melts in your mouth. The mint leaf complemented the taste of the meat well.

2 Dak-Kangjung ($9.90) Deep- fried sweet and spicy chicken bites with ricotta chilli tempura as garnishing. Highly recommended as they are tender yet firm, Korean fried chicken well done well in terms of texture and taste!

11Samgyupsal ($10.90) is char-grilled pork belly with scallion salad and chill yuzu dressing. An exquisite blend between the greens, pork belly and yuzu.  Extremely appetizing!

4Toppoki ($9.90) traditional Korean rice cakes that everyone loves! The rice cakes are chewy and comes drenched with a sweet and spicy sauce, topped off with three kinds of melted cheese. It’s a snack that’s quite commonly eaten among Koreans, and can be readily found in Singapore too. Toppoki is so delicious when topped off with melted cheese, a MUST TRY if you ever visit!

MAINS

7Dak Gar-Bi ($38.90) Spicy Chicken Paella with onions, mushrooms, cabbage, sausage and kimchi. Served straight from a pan, the dish comes in a generous portion, which can easily be shared among 2 to 3 people. The sticky short grain rice was perfectly complimented with the chicken and the sour kimchi. If you like your chicken paella with a hint of citrus, you can squeeze the lemon wedges over the dish. This was my personal favourite of the night, I couldn’t stop at the first serving and just had to go for another one!

6Ssam ($40.90) tender pork ribs with lettuce wrap. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy. This dish is eaten with the meat wrapped with lettuce then slotted in between the bun.

DESSERTS

9Hotteok ($8.90) pan fried chewy sweet Korean pancake with banana foster. Really love how this dessert manages to have a twist on the much popular traditional Hotteok. Doesn’t this remind you of the cafe craze, waffles served with Vanilla ice-cream and caramelised bananas? Its love at first bite with this refreshing twist of Hotteok topped off with a scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream and caramelised bananas! It’s sweet and chewy, perfect for individuals with a sweet tooth. The ice cream melts really fast though, so any photos better be taken quick!

10Misugaru ($8.90) lava cake with a scoop of Vanilla Ice-cream, strawberries and lime compote. The lava oozes out as soon as you cut the cake, presenting a visually appealing dessert.

8Ended the meal with Peach Soju Shot ($7.90), which was delightfully smooth with a peachy taste. Surprisingly good combination of fruity peach with soju! Oh boy, how I am missing this drink already ):

THOUGHTS

It’s interesting to see a twist on Korean food with a Tapas Bar concept. SYNC Tapas Bar has definitely done a good job in sharing the Korean culture through quality fusion cuisine. If you are a fan of Korean cuisine, this place will rank high on your list of places to visit! You definitely wouldn’t want to miss this, trust me!

The Chicken Paella is definitely worth a try if you make your way down, thumbs up for the dish!

SYNC Korean Tapas Bar does not charge service charge and also offers kid friendly options if you are dining here with your family.

TBM OOTDS – SCENIC OUTFITS

I believe choosing a spot or background to take your outfit is definitely a headache to most of the girls out there. Especially for those who are very particular about the background they choose. The rustic feel (some would say ‘lup sup’) , the color,  the structure etc. Yup, so today we’re gonna share a few scenic ootds with you guys!

So I’m sure most of you here have heard of The Audacious Cakery or probably seen all their pretty cakes on Instagram posted by the foodies! We were so honoured to be invited to The Audacious Cakery one morning for a tasting session! A very big thank you to Sharryl, Executive Chef & Owner for having us over for some yummy cakes! Read on to find out what are the cakes we tried!

DSC_0322

The Audacious Cakery (TAC for short) is a quaint cafe located in Everton Park, a quiet and peaceful neighborhood to spend an afternoon in. The dessert counter immediately caught our attention with its wide varieties of petite and delicate cakes. There are so many choices that I am sure many before us faced the same dilemma – “Oh goodness! I want this & that and oh that looks good too!”

DSC_0295DSC_0294

An amazing assortment of cakes, tarts & macarons are available at The Audacious Cakery. So many choices to pick from and boy, did we have a hard time choosing them! It is times like this that we wish that we had two stomachs!

IMG_2282

Though not a very big space, the interior of the cakery is clean and simple, sporting a cozy and warm ambiance.

IMG_2258

Love the quote on the wall, ” Live, Laugh and Eat Dessert first”. This is how exactly life should be!

DSC_0378

The first cake we tried is the Exotique ($7.80), made of mango and coconut mousse on a jaconde sponge with fresh mango & papaya bits. Extremely refreshing and light to kickstart the tasting session, its fruity after taste is just right and its addictive! Exotique is available for a limited time only, definitely worth a try if you are a fruit lover.

DSC_0393

Strawberry Shortcake ($6.80) Made with fluffy white sponge, layered with succulent strawberries and luscious vanilla cream. The sponge is fluffy and soft. The taste was quite light and not too sweet!

DSC_0387

Alexiss ($7.80) Salted caramel mousse with dark chocolate banana centre with crumble topping for the added crunch. One of the signature cakes, the salted caramel mousse complements the centre well.

DSC_0381

Zacharie ($7.80) Mango passionfruit cheese mousse with a mango passionfruit centre on a ginger biscuit base. One of the recommendations by the staff and a MUST TRY! The cheese mousse is light and fragrant , coupled with the crunchy digestive biscuit base, makes it a different cheesecake than what we usually have. Its so good that we polished it off within a few minutes!

DSC_0365

Lemon Meringue Tart ($5.80) is a hot favourite in many cafes nowadays. If you are a lover of lemon meringue tart, you shouldn’t miss this! Its sour and refreshing. The tartness of the lemon curd was perfectly balanced by sweetness of the meringue. The biscuit base was not too hard and it complemented the curd well.

Photo 10-11-14 10 32 24 am

Raspberry & Devil’s Foodcake ($3.50) the chocolatey cake was moist and topped off with raspberry Italian Meringue buttercream made with raspberry puree and it gives a light tangy kick to the cake.

Matcha Cupcake ($3.50) is made with green tea specially imported from Japan and topped off with Matcha Italian meringue butter cream. The matcha taste is not overwhelming yet distinct, a must try for all matcha lovers!

Salted Egg Cupcake ($4.20) is inspired by the salted egg yolk bun, and our favourite cupcake out of the three! This recommended flavour is unique and deviate from the usual flavours. The salted egg yolk frosting is surprisingly good and coupled with the custard centre, it is a nice sweet and savory treat not to be missed!

DSC_0353

There’s also coffee and tea available at the cakery to go with your cakes, made with quality coffee beans & TWG Tea. Options offered include Latte, Expresso, Long Black, Cappuccino, Hazelnut, Mocha & Flat White. Starting from just $3!

MUST TRY: Zacharie ($7.80), recommended by staff and it indeed lives up to our high hopes! Love the combination of cheese mousse & mango passionfruit!
